Connected by an elevated bridge, the Marine Science Lab at Hobcaw Barony and the new headquarters for the National Estuarine Research Reserve at the Baruch Marine Lab serve together as an educational vehicle for coastal environmental studies. The exterior envelope of the new building incorporates a level of design and material quality that will withstand the rigorous environment of the ocean. The final result was a 4300 square foot single story elevated structure including classrooms, a library, lab and offices.
