This renowned 7800 sf former hunt club was originally constructed in the late 1800s. Tych & Walker Architects contracted with SC DNR to renew the building, and create a functional office for DNR on the 24,000 acre Santee Coastal Reserve. The original materials from the house were salvaged and re-used for parts of the siding, interior walls and all the cabinetry work. The grand living room was opened to create a two story volume around the grand fireplace, which was one of seven fireplaces in the building. An outdoor classroom was incorporated within the original footprint of the Guide's quarters, providing a functional link to the renewed hunt club.
